FLOURISHING IN THE LONG HAUL
The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree,
He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Planted in the house of the Lord,
They will flourish in the courts of our God.
They will still yield fruit in old age;
They shall be full of sap and very green.
Psalm 92:12-14
Dear Family and Friends,
These verses have always inspired me. Flourishing, fruitful and very green into old age for all who root themselves in the Lord. They’re actually quite anti-aging in outlook. But now that I expect my Medicare card to arrive any day now, for the first time these verses present a challenge. Am I flourishing? Am I full of sap and very green? Am I still yielding fruit?
Our calling to follow Jesus, listen to Him, learn from Him and obey Him never stops. There is no “retirement” for a disciple of Jesus. His design is for us to flourish and produce fruit until He calls us home. And it is precisely this lifelong journey of growth into His likeness which Tyrannus and Lydia Halls seek to cultivate in university students, many of whom are at the beginning of their journey with Him. Discipleship is a “for the long haul” kind of ministry.
Cambodia Lydia Hall: a new permanent home for their discipleship journey…
Four members of the Cambodia Lydia Hall Board met with the owners (man seated with his wife and son in tan shirt behind him) in December 2024 to complete the sale of the new CLH. This culminated a yearlong effort by the CLH Board and TLH to raise funds for the discipleship ministry of young Cambodian women. Did you see there are no signatures, only thumbprints?
Then last month, Rev Gihuka Swu, founder of the Cambodia Tyrannus and Lydia Halls, officially dedicates the CLH to the Lord.
Here is this year’s class of Lydians moving into the new CLH. They are the primary reason TLH exists. Please pray for their growth into flourishing, lifelong followers of our Lord.
Pune Tyrannus Hall (India): a stop along the way in their discipleship journey…
This past weekend, Rev Sanjay Singh and 9 of the 11 students in the PTH took a trip to a nearby lake to spend concentrated time with one another and the Lord. They travelled together, ate together, studied 2 Peter 1 together and played together – all to grow in their understanding of God and His ways, and in the process be transformed more into His image. It kind of reminds you of how Jesus spent time imparting the words and ways of the Kingdom to His disciples, doesn’t it?
God’s Word: the foundation of discipleship unto Jesus. Here they study God’s wisdom from the aged Apostle Peter’s last letter.
Please continue to pray for the disciple-makers of Tyrannus and Lydia Halls, like Rev Sanjay, who give of themselves to shepherd and equip young disciples to flourish in Christ for the long haul.
